arcade has no hard-drive,premium has 20/60gb hard-drive and elite has a 120gb hard-drive.
if your not going to be downloading loads on to it or adding music/video then the premium is the better value one.

largely, its hard drive sizes.

The Elite is a 120 gb harddrive, the Pro is (was?) a 20 gb harddrive, the arcade doesn't have a harddrive, so you'll need a memory card. The platinum I believe is the newest option, with a 60 gb harddrive. Personally, I'd watch for a deal on a pro or arcade (and find a harddrive later) as they have had pros for under 200 bucks already.

I bought the elite a while back and haven't used more than 20 gb's at one time ever. I may have to start downloading more stuff just to use the space, hehe. Just keep in mind to play games like halo, there are mandatory updates and expansion levels that will have to be stored on the harddrive, so do try to get one.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_360#Comparison_of_features

There is a very nice article about the different versions so you can make an informed decision.

I have the Elite, and since then, the Arcade version came out. If you already have the cables, and don't care about HD video output you can always buy the hard drive and slap it on the Arcade version.

But by the time you've done that, you might as well get the Elite for the same price.

If you go to xbox.com there is a detailed graph showing every console and their included parts but heres a quick rundown

arcade = bare bones, no headset, no harddrive, (need harddrive for mostly everything including xbox live and saving game files)

pro and platinum are the same thing = includes everything you need headset,60 harddrive, sometimes a free game, a few months of xbox live etc.

elite is the exact same as pro except the harddrive is twice as large at 120gb.

If you are interested in playing video games online I would go with the Pro 100% 120gb is overkill and isn't needed in my opinion. Also be sure to buy an in-store warranty to make yourself feel secure.

Have fun it's easily the best console out there outside the faulty hardware.

arcade come with like no memory(you need memory),elite is black and has 120 gig hard drive (i have it),platinum comes with 2games and a20 gig harddive(white),
I was reading in this magazine(cant remember)but they were saying by next year they will have another 360...but it will be slim version just like the ps2..so if your not ina rush id wait for that wont take up as much space and wont have any of problems that the old ones had(so they say)

The Arcade is the console, a 256 MB memory card, wireless controller, and standard AV cables.
The Pro (Premium) has the console, 20 or 60 GB hard drive, wireless controller, Ethernet cable, wired headset for Xbox Live, and standard/ HD cables.
The Elite is black and has the console, 120 GB hard drive, wireless controller, Ethernet cable, wired headset, and HD cables.

The big difference between the Pro and the Elite is the bigger hard drive, but that can be purchased separately and added to any of the 3 consoles. All parts are interchangeable so you could buy an Arcade version and then get the Ethernet, hard drive, etc. separately and add them. IMO, the Pro is the best deal and this is what most people own.

The difference is the amount of memory each one has. And the amount/content of things that come with it.

Aracde=256 MB, controller, console, and av cable

Pro= 60 GB, controller, console, av cable/hd, network cable/hd, headset,

Elite= 120 /GB, black console, black controller, black headset, av cable/hd, network cable/hd, hdmi cable

They all come with a silver membership as well which will allow you to play games but not play multiplayer on xbox live. I would suggest the Elite if you have the money.
