I am using a motorolla modem and am on virgin media and when i connect my x box 360 it simply won't work it says something about the ip address. i took my console to my brothers who is on bt and it works first time. PLEASE HELP!

Sounds like your modem needs to be reset everytime you plug it into the modem. When you have to a computer, it has an IP address allready, you need to reset the modem everytime you hook up you 360.
You might want to get a router. that'll fix it quick! I have a linskys wireless router, works fine.
Well did you buy the wireless adapter for the 360? The only other option is a land line between your computer and 360. Plus the x box adapters sometimes dont work with a router.
