ok im buying an xbox 360 this weekend and i want to know how long it takes to download a game demo and if you can play a game from a disc or the hard drive while it is downloading...........if you know of any cool game demos tell me i like offroad racing, racing, GTA style games, shooters, and the sims kinda games......Thank you! =)
The time it takes to download Game Demos actually depends on your internet speed connection. So there really is no set time to download any demo. Also, on the Xbox Live marketplace there is over 500 down loadable demo's so you must find something that you like. You can't play a demo while it is downloading though, you can play it right off of your hard-drive after it is done downloading however. No disk is required for a demo downloaded of the xbox live marketplace.
If you have high speed internet (6GB or so) it doesn't take but a minute or two to download a demo. If you start playing another game it will pause the download and only begin downloading again when you stop playing. The first game you purchase should be Call of Duty 4...trust me, you will be addicted from the first moment you play it online. Call of Duty 5 comes out next month and I am hopeful that it will be half as good as COD4. Good luck and good gaming.
The download speed really gets determined with your own internet connection. Mine is decent so a 600 MB demo might take about 10-15 minutes to download on a fast day. Demos range from 450 MB to 1.3 GB for the most part so it depends on your net speed and if XBL is getting bombarded with activity.
You can play games online while you're downloading but if you're playing an online game then you may notice some lagging, understandably. Also you have the option to use the feature called Background Downloads. Basically you download something and while its downloading if you have something else that needs to be done then you can turn off your 360 and it will continue to download the game, demo, or whatever. It'll then turn off once the download is complete.
Can't recommend any demos, but they do list them by genre so you can look for yourself without having to go through the entire library of games.
