try Oblivion, you can probably find it at a secondhand store for $30 or so these days. It's an RPG but don't let that turn you off to it, it's a really cool game, lots of action + adventure and such. Crackdown is really fun too, not sure how much that would run you now. Also if you haven't played it before Gears of War is pretty good. Just check out gamespot.com, they have the top ranked games and their prices, you can even buy the game right there I believe.

what ever you do dont get halo3, its really highly overrated, maybe call of duty 4 or lost planet
